Review : Crashing Tides by Casey Peeler

***ARC Provided by the Author for an Honest Review***

Crashing Tides by Casey Peeler is a Young Adult romance focused on two seniors, who meet at spring break.

The story starts with Marleigh Anderson and Gunnison ‘GC’ Del Valle meeting during spring break week and falling instantly in love. I always struggle with the main two characters doing this so quickly, but it sets the story beautifully. Unfortunately, just as they are planning their future together, it quickly turns into a heartbreaking tragedy that sees GC being left devastated.

When Marleigh put an end to their relationship, she knows it’s not really what she wants to do, but feels that it’s what’s best.

Teenagers!! They can be frustrating creatures………

Three years later and we find that GC has never gotten over Marleigh, and when he discovers that she is now attending the College he is playing basketball at, he makes it his mission to find out what went wrong. He needs to know why she broke it off.

As a parent of teenagers, I love the real life issues that Casey brings to attention in her book, but that does not ease the frustration you feel towards Marleigh. It saddens you to feel GC’s pain, making you want to wrap him up in a massive hug, but only the girl that broke his heart can mend his pain.

What I loved about this story is how the characters dealt with their issues, regardless of what life threw at them, and we all know life is not always kind. It makes them face the reality of the situation, so that they could see what the future would hold for them.

This is a 4-star rating in my eyes, and I would recommend it to anyone who loves reading Young Adult novels.
