Review : Chasing The Wild Sparks by Ren Alexander

***ARC provided by the author for an honest review***

Ren Alexander’s book ‘Chasing the Wild Sparks’, is her debut novel and it released in 2013. It is the first in the four part series of Wild Sparks. Most of the time I am hesitant on starting an authors book with no prior books under their belt but with Chasing the Wild Sparks I needn’t of worried. Chasing the Wild Sparks was a fantastic start for this new author.  The realistic honesty Ren puts in to this book is amazing. I couldn’t put it down, once I started.  I could honestly relate to aspects of Finn and Hadley. Ren’s book, didn’t have the doe eyed twenty something chick, we are used to in recent novels but she gave you a woman in her thirties, who is dealing with a mature relationship, with some comedic banter from quirky friends.

Hadley, has finally found her niche in life.  She loves being a paralegal, working with her two best friends and she has the perfect boyfriend, Finn. Somehow, in life and in a relationship, there will be problems or obstacles.   And in Hadley’s case, they centre around her relationship with Finn.

Finn, the stubborn, brooding dirt bike racer, loves his life. He can’t change the fact he lives for the thrills of life whether it is a cliff dive off into the ocean, or leaving a cloud of dust from his dirt bike.  He loves living on the edge.  And his main thrill came into his life three years ago and she has been his adrenaline boost ever since.  But what happens when that’s not enough?

” I’m not feeling lost without you, Becks.  I never want you to feel like I don’t want you.   You’re all I want.”

Hadley and Finn give you the inside to how relationships need work from insecurities, to having different ideas you want. Life is full of challenges, and love is the hardest to maintain and to keep alive. Hadley and Finn will have you cheering in the stands for their love.

In my opinion Ren did an amazing job on her debut novel and I happily give Chasing the Wild Spark 4.5 stars. The writing is heartfelt and captivating with the story being told in a dual perspective.

I will however advise you this does end on a cliffhanger. What great book doesn’t?  Though no need to be devastated, because the second book in this series is available right now. You can continue Hadley and Finn’s story.
