The Effects of Falling by Mariah Dietz

***ARC PROVIDED BY AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW***

Often when an author brings out a new book I tend to read it without looking at the blurb and this was the case with ‘The Effects of Falling’ by Mariah Dietz. I was wonderfully surprised with the story and wholeheartedly give it 5 stars.

This is the second in ‘The Weight of Rain’ series but is a standalone that can be read and loved without reading or knowing anything about the first book. In this book we are given the story of long time best friends Kash and Summer and whether they can successfully pull of the transition from friends to lovers and if it is even what they both want.

I loved Summer and her feisty attitude but with the soft hear underneath it. She hasn’t had the easiest of upbringings and at the hands of her uncle she was introduced into the world of BMX’s and competitive riding. Summer’s uncle is a coach and teaches her as well as training the Knight brothers in the sport and all things BMX. For 11years Summer and Kash have been extremely close friends and for she has long since harboured strong feelings for him that go beyond friendship. Starting to realise just how much of her life revolves around Kash means that things need to drastically change regardless of the outcome.

Kash has suffered real heartache in his life and has a daughter to think about as well as a business to keep going. He is talented at his sport and now that Summer no longer rides professionally she works with him and his brother taking photos and doing promo stuff along with other day to day tasks. Summer has always been there for him and is already family but can he see her as taking on a different role in his family. Regardless of the outcome things are never going to be the same once feelings are put out there.

I loved the way that this book was written and flowed effortlessly from the first page to the last. You truly feel and understand the trepidation Summer has about revealing her feelings and the implications of those feelings. What I loved is that it is a sweet read with feisty characters and you can’t help but feel emotions along with the characters. Another amazing read by Mariah Dietz that you won’t want to put down when you start.
