R.C. Boldt was a new author to me before reading this book so was eager to see what I would make of her writing and the story in this book and am thrilled to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. ‘Wildest Dream’ gets 4.5 stars from me.

I love a good friends to lovers story as I love watching the characters evolve, develop and realise their feelings for one another. I also think it makes for a more believable and related story as we can watch a more natural progression of becoming a couple and allows for a better time frame. The attraction was there from the outset but what I loved especially about this friends to lovers story in particular is that it was never over the top, dreamy or sickly sweet. What I mean is that they still remained friends but just with more, they still had the witty banter, teasing and general back and forth that you love so much from before they become more. The friendship between them is so strong and well played out that you can’t help but relate to them and feel like you truly know Mac, Raine and the rest of their gang.

Mac has tough time dealing with love and has always been let down in the past when feelings are involved as people always leave him in one way or another. He is very much determined that he does not want a relationship and this thing between him and Raine was only meant to be a one-time only deal but of course once is never enough. As for Raine, she has had her own issues to deal with. She is a cancer survivor and regardless that she has had a couple of failed attempts she would still like to give being in a relationship a go as she wants to settle down and have her own fairy tale ending.

This was a steady paced book that makes you laugh, tugs at your heart and has you frustrated at times too. It’s this mix of emotions and the friendship of Mac and Raine that make you keep reading as you want to know how things will work out and whether or not Raine and Mac have what it takes to be together. This was a great book and it was hard to believe that it was a debut book too. I will definitely be looking out for more from this author and picking up the other books in this series.
