Review : Bullies Like Me by Lindy ZartSaturday, December 24, 2016
** ARC Provided by the author for an honest review **
Haunting .. Powerful and Poignant .. Bullies like me is a novel that everyone should read. Lindy Zart wrote an eloquent read depicting the cruelty individuals can inflict with their words and actions. It is not for the faint of heart as it will take you on an emotional journey but will open your eyes to the disturbing trend of our society.
Alexis broke my heart. The way she was treated was reprehensible, I could feel her pain and suffering. The relentless torment drove her to trying to end her life. By the Grace of God she was not successful in her attempt however did end up in a place that would change her and her life.
Nick is damaged, damaged in ways you would never think. He is hiding secrets along with Alexis but together they click. In a place where you would never imagine to find a soul mate, these two manage to do just that. The thing with secrets is though .. it is like a festering disease and no good ever comes from hiding the truth. It always ends up ruining something.
The story will take you on a roller coaster, leave you emotionally drained however as you read more and more you will be flipping through the pages to see what happens next. Lexie will transform before your eyes and you will get a glimpse of the other side of the coin.
There is always the other side to a story right .. well when you delve into the mind of the bully, you come to understand that there is ALWAYS more the story than you thought.
What happens when a victim decides enough is enough and a lesson needs to be taught? You need to read this raw and gritty novel to find out.
I commend Lindy Zart in writing a story that must of been extremely difficult to write .. it was hard on my heart to read it however she brilliantly showcased the trails and tribulations facing our youth today and even the adults.
