Review : Sweetest Regret by Meredith Duran

Writing: Good
Violence: None
Sex: Some
Narration: 3rd Person

Sweetest Regret by Meredith Duran, set in the Victorian era, depicts a Christmas holiday with a hint of mystery and the hope of rekindled love.

Georgie has been tasked with entertaining her father’s guests for the Christmas season after he was called away on an unexpected diplomatic trip to Constantinople.  While she is entertaining her guests with a traditional English Christmas, her father also asks her to find a letter he believes one of his guests have stolen.  Her father thinks it an easy task for her, but at the last minute sends his associate Lucas Godwin to help.  This won’t be the first time she has had dealings with Lucas and the last time had left a bad taste in her mouth.  She resolves to find the letter as fast as possible so that Lucas will be on his way.  But when Lucas arrives and they start searching for the letter, they upend more than what they are looking for.

Sweetest Regret is a short story told in a 3rd person narrative with a HEA.  I enjoyed reading this short story as it was just enough mystery and romance for a quick read.  The author did a fantastic job with describing the characters; at several places even I was irritated with Georgie’s guests!  The romance between Georgie and Lucas was light, so this makes a perfect read for someone who likes a story with limited sexual situations.

I am giving Sweetest Regret by Meredith Duran 5 stars.
