When I looked at the cover of Seat 2A by Dela I was under the impression that it was going to be a one of those cute, fun stories. When I read the blurb, I imagined it being so much more and was intrigued. When I started reading it I was in for a ride of a whole different kind. It’s more of a second chance romance than the cute, sexy love story I was envisioning.
It delves into those character flaws people can have which frustrates those closest to them. Both Jessie and Kendal, Dela’s lead characters, have those frustrating personalities on them and at times I just wanted to belt them across the back of the head to wake them up.
The story line itself I actually liked, it flowed well and the development between all of the characters was steady. It’s those character flaws that not only frustrated you, but kept you reading. I needed to know if Kendal and Jessie would work through their quirks to finally arrive at their happily ever after.
After running into Jessie in an airport, Kendal finds a connection that surprises him but his life is one based on impulse, and commitment is not something he regards highly………… until Jessie.
This won’t be a story for everyone, especially with the traits of ALL of Dela’s characters but it’s definitely worth the read. It’s a book that will test your patience, but in all honesty, Dela only portrays what we see in people every day.
